The accident at the Fukushima Daiichi NPS was a severe and unprecedented event. The decommissioning project is an extremely complex and difficult one, and requires knowledge and experience that does not exist in Japan to be brought together from a broad range of fields in order to ensure it proceeds in a smooth and prompt manner.
Experts in various related fields from the US, UK and France have been appointed as International Special Advisors under the Decommissioning Office.
The NDF also closely cooperates with nuclear decommissioning bodies and R&D institutions overseas.
